Laurie Nelson, BCMTB
I graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University, Bloomington, MN, with a Certificate in Massage Therapy. Courses and electives gave me experience in relaxation (Swedish), sports, geriatric, and cancer massage techniques, as well as trigger point therapy. I was able to incorporate these techniques during rotations at Regions and Fairview-University Hospitals, Cerenity Senior Care Center, and Pillsbury House Integrative Clinic, as well as clinics within NWHSU. My clients range in age from children to seniors in their nineties.
I am certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork and am a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association. I have volunteered with the AMTA-Minnesota chapter Sports Massage Team and have participated in post-event massage at Grandma’s Marathon, the Minnesota Ironman Bicycle Ride, and the Bloomington Iron Girl Duathlon. I have also volunteered as a Massage Therapist with a local hospice organization.
Continuing Education is an important component of my education and I am enthusiastic about learning new techniques that may help my clients. I have received extra training in fascial work and am certified in NeuroMuscular Therapy, and Bodywork for the Childbearing Year through Kate Jordan, Massage Therapist and educator.
